What’s at your place
Your connection has two parts, and each does one job.
The fibre box.
Where the fibre ends inside your home. It stays on the wall and you don’t need to touch it.
The Beacon.
Your router. It plugs into the fibre box and makes the Wi-Fi for the whole house.
Some homes on the Rural Fibre Co network have an older fibre box with the Wi-Fi built in. If that’s yours, it stays, and you don’t need a Beacon. Want to use your own router instead? We’ll switch it to bridge mode.
On the Rural Fibre Co network?
Your Beacon comes with the fibre.
When your connection goes in, we supply a Nokia Beacon with it, a Beacon 9 on Maxxed Out. Already connected? It’s already there. Need Wi-Fi in the back bedroom or the shed? Add another and they work as one network.

Yes, if it supports your plan speed. We’ll tell you before you buy if it won’t.
No. Your Beacon arrives set up. The app is there if you want to change your Wi-Fi name, set up a guest network or see what’s connected.
It can’t make your plan faster than it is. Better coverage means more of your speed reaches the rooms you actually use.
Yes. They work together as one network.
Yes, within 7 business days of it arriving. Send it back at your cost and we’ll credit the price, less a 15% restock fee, towards the one you want.
